Geodatabase Manager/Park Ranger
-
May 2005 - Present
I transferred to the Cumberland Trail in May of 2005 to pursue, in a work environment, the skills I was developing in the classroom. I spend 80% of my time creating maps in support of specific projects such as grant requests, federal environmental guidelines, work projects and landacquisition deals and 20% of my time working on developing a Geodatabase structure. This database is being designed and constructed to be an overall management tool for a large complex park operation and is updated regularly. The park also uses GPS technology as part of our field data collection efforts and I devote some time to field data collection and in instructing the park's staff in the use of this technology. I also take the time to work with GIS students at Roane State Community College and kids participating in 4-H programs about GIS. Show less
