As a System Technician for Bombardier I was responsible for the maintenance of 9 monorail trains, 7 stations and 4.5 miles of track. I was a lead technician, responsible for supervising 3 technicians, ensuring that they complete their assignments and do it in a safe manner. The trains I was responsible for are powered by 750 VAC and have 4 electric motors, 4 propulsion control units, 3 auxiliary power units, 2 vehicle on-board controllers, multiple programmable logic devices (PLC's), and various other components that make operation possible. Provided maintenance and repair for a variety of electronic equipment to include, public address systems, intercom systems, solar power systems, and operator alignment of electronic support equipment. As a technician and upon being promoted to a "lead" I maintained my skills in coordinating the work processes and efforts of the "team members" in order to meet the objectives and goals of the company and upper management. The stations consist of ticket vending machines, fare gates, platform doors and wayside control units, all which are in need of preventive maintenance as well as corrective maintenance. The track includes radio antennas and in cases the replacement of sections of the power rail. A great deal of time while on the stations was spent interacting with the public, answering question, suggesting attractions to see, and upon request giving directions. Show less
