  Activities:-Aquaculture development and management along the Coastal region.-Tilapia culture in controlled environment and systems.-Research on selective breeding of tilapia.-Research on seed production and hatching management.-Training fish farmers on fish pond construction, pond management, stocking, feed formulation, feeding, harvesting, artificial propagation, scaling, fish value addition etc.-Providing efficient extension services and information to fish farmers about appropriate feeding times and water management techniques to ensure enough supply of dissolved oxygen for the fish.-Training fish farmers on the importance of aquaculture record keeping including records on stick density, mortality, growth and survival during my field visits. Water chemistry- Nitrogen cycle, nutrients flows and quality monitoring.Fish health- Prevention, recognition and treatment of fish health parasites and pathogens.Fish management- Calculating stocking densities and feed rates, managing fish harvests, transportation and handling of fish.Plant anatomy of aquaponic crop species. Nutritional requirements of plants, prevention, recognition and treatment of plants parasites and pathogens including an overview of principles of companion planting and of aquaponics- site environment .Crop management strategy design - crop propagation, planting and transplanting seedlings, pruning, harvesting and systems balance.
