Ward Sister
-
Apr 2013 - Apr 2014
Initially performing as a Deputy Sister on a ward where there was no Matron to ensure day to day running of the ward and high quality of patient care. Eventually I continued this job role with the supervision of a Matron and worked collaboratively to deliver teaching at specialised away days, provide a level of seniority on duty and co-ordinate a ward of 27 patients. I worked very closely with the Matron to ensure quality was monitored, complaints and incidents were thoroughly investigated and shared, and manage the staff on a day to day basis with any issues which arose. Working initially as a junior nurse and developing to a senior staff nurse on an acute respiratory ward. I completed 2 internal rotations also to work with infection control and urgent care. I learned to perform advanced skills in this role to enhance the standard of care delivered.
