Bio
Maureen O'Brien PhD
Jill and I were colleagues at Families First for over 6 years. She hit the ground running when we hired her to lead grant writing and Foundation Relations at our nonprofit. She rose through the ranks, eventually reaching the Interim Director level. While her skills are many, I will focus on her contributions to 3 major projects she spearheaded: Strategic Planning, Marcomm Planning and Grantwriting. For the first two areas, she impressed me with her calm, focused and forward-thinking abilities. She managed a busy group of internal staff and external consultants with maturity and strong sense of direction. She simultaneously was a grantwriting machine, taking complex concepts and successfully applying them with major success to a variety of funders and donors. Similarly, she tackled a variety of communications initiatives on a nonprofit budget from the glimmer of an idea to full execution. Her demeanor is deceptively low key, as her pace is fast and focused. She was a team leader, insightful and resourceful, skilled at both brainstorming and detail work. Her presence is missed.
