I am very excited to announce the launch of BARD Research Design Consultants, my new business venture to provide laboratory design services based in Houston, Texas. I understand the issues facing researchers today and stay current with the latest trends that are making an impact on the efficiency of laboratory facilities. I have worked with many institutional clients on highly complex projects, serving as a liaison between designers and end users ensuring specific needs are met in order that each project is successful. Let me know how I can help set your next lab project up for success. Show less

I have over 21 years of experience programming and designing labs for institutional and higher education clients. For the past two years with Facility Programming, I have been focusing on pre-project planning and programming for many of these same clients and others. As a Director for the Houston office of Facility Programming and Consulting, I will continue to collaborate with Terry Phillips, serving our clients in Houston and expanding our capabilities and service throughout Texas, the southwestern region and beyond.Through the years, I have developed an exceptional understanding for maximizing space efficiencies and creating design plans which strive to give clients the most instructional and research space per square foot possible. My institutional research programs reflect the importance of increased efficiency by identifying opportunities to share space and resources, striking a balance between specialized and generic lab spaces as well as providing connections between researchers, their labs and the overall building to promote collaboration. I managed and participated on the design and delivery of multiple research lab projects for clients such as The Methodist Hospital, Texas Heart Institute, Texas A&M University, and UT Health Science Center- Houston. I also participated in the company's marketing efforts, pursuing new projects and maintaining client relationships. Most recently I led the programming and schematic design effort for the laboratory portion of the Bispebjerg New Hospital and New Psychiatry Laboratory and Logistics Building in Copenhagen, Denmark. The program comprises approximately 11,000 gross square meters. The clinical and research laboratories comprise about 5,000 square meters, with the remaining 6,000 square meters comprising logistics functions to support the daily operation of the new somatic hospital which is to be located adjacent to this facility. The project seeks to create a research environment that will facilitate the integration of research with clinical practice resulting in higher quality and more effectiveness in treatment. The facility also seeks to encourage interaction among clinicians, researchers and staff by placing collaboration and touch down work spaces outside of the labs, providing a variety of spaces to relax and interact with colleagues outside of the laboratory environment.
