During my internship at Gilead, I assisted the Clinical Supply Chain group by completing two projects. The first included the creation of a resource allocation tool and demand forecast that included all of the studies for each of the clinical assets/programs in development. Before the forecast that I created, it was difficult for the department to see what was coming in terms of studies in a certain Therapeutic Area. Because of the comprehensive model I created, the group is able to manage resources more efficiently and predict when more/less people will be needed to staff the studies. The second assignment was creating supply chain and distribution maps for each clinical program. Due to the constant change of the outsourced manufacturing sites used to source the API(Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient), and Drug Product, and the packaging and labeling sites that handle the IMP(Investigational Medicinal Product) transportation to the study site, there was a need for a better way to manage outsourced manufacturing and distribution. My assignment was to create supply and distribution maps for each clinical program. This involved a lot of data mining and data gathering, and finally verifying and presenting the information. These maps will be referred to by everyone in the department and will help the supply management team plan better and be more efficient. Show less
