Applied various machine learning and statistical methods to satellite data * Published results of innate land/ocean differences in convection identified using K-means clustering. * Used Random Forest Regression to identify key environmental features that contribute to convection * Applied PCA analysis and a neural network to estimate vertical velocity profiles from satellite observations * Applied a CNN to detect Extratropical Cyclone Fronts from reanalysis data Provided remote sensing perspective to Department Of Transportation during installation of meteorological sensors on major highways in New York State. Delivered a software package for automated tracking and analysis of extratropical cyclones in model and observational data. Estimated cloud top vertical velocity of convective clouds via an innovative methodology using data from the A-Train constellation of satellites. Calibrated and archived Defense Meteorological Satellite Program satellites using advanced microwave sounding unit (AMSU-B), Measurement of OZone by Airbus In-service airCraft (MOZAIC) and radiative transfer models. Additionally, delivered an upper-tropospheric humidity data product to NOAA. Studied convective percentage in extratropical cyclones and its contribution to the total precipitation using GPM, Radar and MERRA-2 reanalysis. Presenter at both American Geophysical Union and American Meteorological Society conferences. Show less

Modified NASA operational snow water equivalent (SWE) retrieval algorithm using climatological data, electromagnetic modeling and artificial neural networks (Tedesco and Jeyaratnam, 2016). Primary contact for the NASA operational SWE retrieval algorithm. Rigorous testing and sensitivity analysis of a regional climate model (MAR). Created a software to compare model data from RACMO, GLASS and MODIS over the Himalayas and Greenland. Calibrate AMSR-E, SSMI-S and AMSR-2 satellite data. In charge of administering servers for the group. Presenter at Annual AMSR-E Meeting, Huntsville Alabama (2015) and SNOWPEX meeting, Boulder, Colorado (2015). Show less
