I have been doing music from the age of 9 but recently, since starting the Brit School, i have progressed and started a two piece girl acoustic band called Lyon. We do many covers taking a blues/rock and roll genre. We are now in the process of writing our own material and this has resulted in us getting various amounts of gigs around London. In September we had the amazing oppotunity of supporting front man of the band, The Seahorses, on his solo tour. We went down to Yorkshire and had many bookings off people for us to play in there bars, clubs and pubs. We have been really successful in getting a big following in Yorkshire and now we are starting to do the same in London. Every week, we take the time to go to different boroughs around London and street perform. This has led to us meeting many new people and given us even more opportunities within London.

The Community Arts Practise course is a new course at The Brit School that was introduced in 2012 when I started. The course is specifically for students who are interested in the arts for more than just performing.Over the two years we study many different units that cover all elements of community arts. Some of these included dance, puppetry, improvisation techniques, singing skills and performing arts business. I feel like each one of these units has helped me to progress I'm being an all round performer.Being at the Brit school has given me many opportunities that I have expanded on and used to my upmost potential. I have been apart of many projects on my course including a project working directly with children were we toured a piece of theatre around schools. I have also worked on a reminiscence project with Age UK were I got to know the elderly people very well and I still keep in contact with them. More recently I am holding an investigation on how music can help people who suffer from dementia and I am working closely again with Age UK to help me with this. As well as working with children and elderly people I have also worked very inclusively with people who suffer from special educational and physical needs. Working with all these types of people has certainly helped me grow as a performer as it has given me skills to adapt myself in different environments.Year 12•Performance Workshop•Devising Plays•Theatre for Children•Storytelling as Performance•Puppet design•Puppet Construction and OperationsYear 13•Special Subject Investigation•Theatre-in-Education•Performing to an Audience•Rehearsing for Performance•Arts in the Community.Performing Arts Events Management

At beanies I use my skills that I have developed from my community arts course at The Brit School to hold exciting birthday parties for children in Croydon.Whilst i was working here i gained alot of experience working with children and delivering exciting parties for lots of different types of children. I feel like this has helped me to progress as a performer because you always need to know how to work with different people. It has also helped me to gain organation skills which you need in any job.

At Chickenshed I worked inclusively with the youth theatre and participated in some of there shows. I worked closely with young adults who have learning and physical disabilities. I am not currently volenteering there anymore but will start my place again in 2014.When I started work at Chickenshed i had a very open mind about how I would be working as this is very different to anything I had done before. Working inclusively is always something I have naturally done, however, Chickenshed take this to a level were the arts is accessible to everyone. I was chosen to work one on one with a young girl who had down sydrome. This was a challenge for me as I had never done this before but it was rewarding to know that I was using my performance skills to help someone in an inclusive arts environment. I had to adapt the way I directed so it would fit to the person I was working with and this improved week by week as I learnt what worked and what didn't. Following from this, I was then asked to come back to Chickenshed in the following term and be a group leader. This meant that I would lead a whole group and make sure everyone's needs were seen too. This was also a challenge for me but it helped me to understand how different people respond to direction and how I can adapt myself to different peoples needs. My work at Chickenshed has not only taught me key inclusive methods of performing but also adapted my team leading skills and my facilitation skills. From this, I now find it easier to be in large groups of people and work with them in a professional performance environment.
