The charity's initiatives bring together skills and resources from across the wider neighbourhood, and tackle complex issues in a way that transforms lives. Spear has won external recognition and plaudits for its work. Having been shortlisted for the Charity of the Year Award in 2008, we were 'Highly Commended' at the prestigious Centre for Social Justice Awards in June 2009 by a judging panel of prominent MPs, social affairs commentators and respected practitioners. My responsibilities as a Spear Coach involve delivering training in life and career skills, recruiting students onto the programme, provision of administrative support within the coaching team, liaising with extrernal providers and local government authorities, and participation in the annual Spear fundraiser.
