Learning Coordinator / Site Director
-
Jun 2021 - Present
As a learning coordinator, I observe science curriculum, socioemotional learning curriculum, and organized game-play periods to give feedback on effectively implementing lessons. Learning coordinators are responsible for ensuring program quality that reflects the socioemotional methodology of Camp EDMO. To achieve this, I have supported staff with providing effective, intentional, thoughtful, and hands-on socio-emotional activities to run with students. In addition, as a site director, I support the staff with daily operations in program management, and coaching staff on classroom management strategies. Some success I have had personally as a learning coordinator and site director is coaching staff to implement restorative and accommodative techniques as a strategy in responding to behavioral needs as opposed to disciplinary methods used traditionally in the education system. In addition, I have led site-wide community activities on a weekly basis that allow students to reflect on socio-emotional values while building community within the sites.

Extended Day Program Teacher
-
Feb 2019 - Present
As an Extended Day Program Teacher with Mission Graduates, I lesson plan and lead daily academic and enrichment activities for 25+ students. With our academic activities and enrichments, our class builds literacy, math, STEM, and socio-emotional learning skills that aim to align with appropriate school district learning standards. With a large class size, my students and I work together to maintain classroom behavioral management. As a teacher, my personal goal everyday is to collaborate with my students and staff to develop and maintain a nurturing, safe, and inclusive community environment. Lastly, as being a part of Mission Graduates, I consistently attend professional development trainings to further my learnings on equity, anti-bias curriculum, classroom teaching skills, and socio-emotional learning.

Curriculum Instructor, JR Director
-
May 2015 - Aug 2018
As a curriculum instructor, I lead STEM curriculum and facilitated enrichment activities for a classroom of 20-25 students in each session. Every day, we had two sessions with one class in grade levels kindergarten to second grade, and one other class in grade levels third to fifth grade. This provided me the opportunity to work with all different grade levels in this setting. In addition to leading curriculum as a teacher, I also lead community building activities and socio-emotional learning activities with all of the students as well. Lastly, I supported students with restorative practices when any conflicts came up.
