Muller Milk & Ingredients operated with regional HR service systems, therefore the Droitwich HR team also covered Northampton, Wolverhampton and Market Drayton Tankers. However, the company was slowly moving towards using a Shared Service System, thus I learnt a lot about the advantages and disadvantages of both regional HR systems and shared service HR systems. As a HR Service Representative, my main duties included: - Generating contracts for weekly employees for all four sites, ensuring all information such as hourly rate was accurate and correct. This was followed by organising induction registers for each site. - Informing and advising employees on any disciplinary action to be taken against them, whilst liaising with managers on each particular case. - Managing a large volume of recruitment. In the Midlands region there could be up to 40 vacancies open at times, with hundreds of online applications being submitted each week. I would sift vacancy applications before shortlisting potential candidates to managers. Oftentimes I would approach potential candidates over the phone to invite them to interview. - Using ResourceLink to add new employees onto the system, inputting all of their personal, employment, financial and tax details. Pertemps is the UK's largest independent recruitment agency. As an intern, my key duties included: - Approaching potential clients over the phone in order to generate new business for the company. - Learning how to job match, finding suitable candidates for particular roles and clients, and suggesting that they be set up for interview. - Modifying CVs to make them look professional and highlight a candidate’s most valuable skills and qualities. - Completing administration tasks such as referencing and working with confidential information. - Undertaking administration tasks for head office. - Creating professional posters and window cards to advertise roles to candidates on behalf of clients. Whilst training under Mitchells & Butlers I learnt a lot about food safety and hygiene, and also the Challenge 21 scheme. I ensured that guests were comfortable and were receiving quality service. Further, I worked under pressure, especially during Christmas and Easter periods.
