Youth EnviroLeaders Forum Delegate 2015Youth EnviroLeaders Forum Chaperone 2016Dream Team Leader 2016Young Blake Expeditions - Auckland Islands Voyage 2016I was selected to attend the Youth Enviroleaders Forum in 2015. It was a week-long conference with workshops on conservation, sustainability and youth leadership. It primarily focused on sustaining fishing quantities and freshwater management. I was selected as one of 12 Youth Ambassadors to attend the Young Blake Expedition. On a NZ Navy ship (HMSNZ Otago) we travelled to the Auckland Islands in the Sub-Antarctic to collect quantitative and qualitative samples from the main islands' West Coast. These included bird populations, krill species, seaweed samples and quadrat sampling. Our data was sent to the Department of Conservation, University of Otago, Ministry for the Environment, NIWA and leading scientists in their fields.I have given back to my community by chaperoning later Youth Enviroleader Forums, volunteering regularly for the Trust and guest speaking at national Dream Team youth engagement initiatives each year since.
