  Joining Boardmans Bros as a placement student I helped out within their design team, supporting the day-to-day running of Boardmans along with a great amount of the design aspect. After a few months of learning I also had the pleasure to design. • Supporting all areas across a busy design team based in the UK and product development team based in the Boardmans China office. • Researching key trends and communicating to the team and customers - ensuring we were always one step ahead of customers; balancing creativity and commerciality. • Assisting in comparative shop analysis reports and feeding information across the company and through to our China based productive development team for fabric and trim sourcing. • Responsible for maintaining showroom and samples storage facilities, in a busy and fast paced environment. • Attended customer meetings, and aided in preparation trend/design work, showroom dressing and follow up meetings. • Provided a shared design resource to the business whenever required - supported in trend work and sample management across the wholesale and branded team as well as the private label side of the business. • Visibility of all areas of the business to gain an overview of merchandisers and QA roles, to understand the full process from concept to consumer. • Admin work across the team, supporting in photography of samples, sample submissions, and management of yarn and fabric/trim organisation; adaptability to new tasks each day was key. • New business development support; assisting the research of relevant markets, and compiling new Company Profile brochures. • CAD training sessions across the team - to gain a sound understanding of computer design software used in the industry.
