Jessica is a detail-oriented worker who will accomplish any objective given her. She excels when given the lead on tasks and will follow others when given instructions. As a member of a team or working individually, Jessica can manage numerous taks at once with incredible foresight and creativity. Additionally, she understands the importance of building relationships now that fosters growth in the future. Jessica will be a great member of any team!

I had the great pleasure of working with Jessica on a student fee proposal, the Sustainable Campus Fee. We were part of a team that went from the idea to successful implementation of the fee envisioned. Jessica was very organized, passionate, and kept the team on track for the overall goal of getting this fee passed to improve the campus of Austin Peay State University. When I become SGA President, I enjoyed the multiple meetings with Jessica to improve the APSU campus and relied on Jessica multiple times to be a representative of the student body on University committees.

Made recommendations to reduce risk and negotiated with suppliers to improve their products and programs. - In conjunction with the Import Team, overseas agents, direct import companies, factories, and 3rd party services (laboratories and QC) established product compliance standards and certified that specifications were met on millions of dollars worth of product for Fortune 100 companies. - Guided policy process with direct report; documented all existing procedures (external client/supplier facing) plus enhancements gained from developed policies. - Trained direct report by creating a 6 week critical thinking lesson plan that was laid out with increasing difficulty to include self directed activities, research, webinars, and one on one sessions. This direct report was able to assess risk and take on additional duties extremely quickly. - On a daily basis, made several compliance determinations each of which included variables of product, audience, distribution method, location, artwork, client, and supplier backgrounds. - Performed occasional spot Quality Control checks and managed other entities performing these duties as needed. Additionally booked hundreds of 3rd party QC inspections, reviewed reports, made recommendations for improvement, and ensured all invoices were processed. - Communicated weekly with testing laboratory to ensure Sunrise Identity's standards were being met while reducing testing costs and protecting margin. - Guided product labeling for retail products and created reference materials for easier re-creation. - Established Compliance Team's internal wiki space for managing documentation and projects.

Recall Plan: Wrote the recall plan based on the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), industry association's best practices and company specific criteria. This included preparation for a recall including setting up resources (digital tools, templates), planning mock recalls, and defined roles for handling logistics, finance, client management, and communication (internal, end user, vendor, and federal agency involved). Policy Research: Wrote over 30 policy papers on topics of concern to promotional product industry to include children's items, electronics (FCC, UN-38.3), food, drinkware/food contact, distribution into California (Prop 65) or other state laws, and various international regulations (EU's REACH, RoHS, EN-71, CE). These are being coupled with testing protocols provided by a 3rd party testing laboratory and then be provided to our suppliers and clients so that they know our requirements and standards. Implementation of Product Safety throughout company: This is a 2 pronged approach in reducing our risk. The first is narrowing of our supply chain with high risk situations and product categories (based on policy list above) through deeply understanding their compliance program and occasional and unannounced document audits of 3rd party tests. The second is setting a baseline of knowledge of product safety with our sales team in 2 classes; the first focuses on risk as a concept and how our buyers and outside sales managers as a team with the second going into a little bit of depth on understanding our highest risk situations (Prop 65, children's products, drinkware, electronics and international shipments).

The commission advises the City Council on environmental matters, usually pertaining to code development regulations. Additionally, I had the opportunity to advise the City Communications Director on an upcoming advertising campaign for a new recycling schedule change. As someone who is passionate about the environment, I found this opportunity to be fulfilling when my full time role was not in this area. With money raised from the Student Sustainable Campus Fee, a bio-diesel generator was purchased to convert the school's kitchen grease to fuel used by the school's farm tractors. This reduced the costs incurred by the kitchen to recycle the grease legally and decreased the amount of fuel that needed to be purchased at the farm.
