  As a Family Engagement Specialist, I would facilitate coordination of monthly parent/family engagement activities supporting children’s literacy development for each assigned site (up to17 Classrooms). I would prepare lesson plans and materials for the Office of Early Learning parent events. I would be responsible for conducting home visits to provide parents with training and materials for an event that they could not attend. Another important part of my position was collaboration with other programs (Pre-K, Head Start, Early Head Start, CCSD schools, and community organizations) to strengthen family literacy and parent events and workshops. Also, as a Family Engagement Specialist I was responsible for the coordination of the Extended-Day Program (Literacy Leap) and Extended-Year Program (Summer Splash). I would manage daily logistical components of the programs including, but limited to, student registration, attendance, transportation arrangements, on-site supervision of staff and students, contacting and assigning substitutes, behavioral issues, and communication to parents and teachers about child’s progress.
