I am writing this letter of endorsement for Jessica Prior. I have been in a position to evaluate Jessica as a Professor of Art/Design at James Madison University. As a student in multiple design studios and CAD studio classes, Jessica has performed well academically in a variety of studios including architecture, interior design, and art studio classes. As a student, Ms. Prior has shown an excellent level of performance in design classes and demonstrated imagination, creativity, combined with analytical abilities. She has completed thoughtful solutions to a variety of comprehensive design projects in sequential studio classes. Jessica’s performance has been excellent with completed project documents illustrating creative solutions that were well thought out. Jessica is a detailed oriented individual, a trait that is ideal for design and especially in space analysis, custom detailing and photorealistic rendering. Ms. Prior possesses a mature and self-reliant personality as expressed in design projects. Jessica also has demonstrated strong organizational skills vital to success in any position of leadership. Ms. Prior’s oral and leadership skills are evident from her involvement in class critiques and in working with others. In her senior semester Jessica’s animations in the advanced CAD course explored new concepts of layering information with line drawings and flythroughs. The senior studio Pantheon project demonstrated skill development in open plan layout. Ms. Prior has developed expertise in a variety of computer programs foremost with VectorWorks CAD software. Jessica’s many CAD experiences have evolved professionally in a variety of skills including lighting, elevations and perspectives all with imaginative designs. With NVS Kitchen and Bath, I have the opportunity to work on both residential and commercial projects with in the DMV area (Northrn Va, DC, Southern MD). I specialize in cabinetry design/layout, and have the ability to design utilizing stock cabinets, semi custom cabinets, and full custom cabinetry. With access to multiple cabinet lines, I am able to service a variety of project scopes and budgets. - In the commercial realm, I excell at bidding, ordering, and delivering multi unit projects such as apartment complexes, any ADA units, duplex units, and condo buildings in a timely manor. - In the residential realm, I design kitchens and baths for builders and remodelers and create spaces their clients will enjoy for years. As a designer with NVS, I help the builder's customer decide which cabinet line fits their budget and needs best and design spaces that are just as beautiful as they are functional. NVS has a large showroom with many samples for the client to see in person. With the NVS remodeling division, I put together contract ready and permit ready drawings for any layout changes that may be occurring as well has help my clients with all the finish selections they need to make for their project. Once the layout has been finalized and the selections are made, I am in charge of pricing the final design and work with a team to create a fixed price contract. Show less

I was able to work with all the designers and on multiple projects. I did various tasks from helping select fabrics and trims, to pricing furniture. I also helped create presentation boards for client meetings. I contacted product reps for pricing and availability, and sat in on meetings with reps about new products. When I wasn’t working with one of the designers I spent my time in the library keeping it organized, and reorganizing the stock room. I inventoried numerous bolts of fabrics and fabric pieces, and organized them so the designers could easily find what they needed. I photographed and inventoried original art work, and help select client gifts from the inventory room. While interning for them I also created a profile for the company on elledecor.com where they became the featured designer of the week, and also set up their profile on the Washington DC ASID web site. I interned for Classic Touch Interiors for the summer of 2010. I worked closely with the designers on projects through the entire process. I would help with fabric and furniture selection. Once the client had made final selections I would type estimates an proposals for cost, along with the purchase orders. Along with helping on projects I also took care of regular office work such as answering phones, sending emails and faxes, and filing away paper work. I was also in charge of making sure the resource library was up to date which consisted of pulling all the discontinued samples. Show less
