As Grants Director, I am the primary contact for all grants tied to SDUIH. This includes the review, processing, and submission of grant and contract proposals with Federal, State, Local, Tribal, Corporate and Nonprofit Sponsors. I am also responsible compliance, monitoring, accounting, and reporting of grant activities under Federal, State and Sponsor regulations and policies for both proposals and awards. I negotiate with Sponsor contract officers and/or legal counsel to modify or remove inappropriate or unacceptable terms and conditions, fiscal reporting requirements and payment schedules. As director of collegiate and alumni relations at Briar Cliff University in Sioux City, Iowa. My primary purpose was as a communicator, relationship builder and liaison between the Office of Institutional Advancement and various constituencies--both internal and external. Collaborative initiatives in which I participated helped position BCU as a competitive, high quality institution while encouraging alumni and friends of the university to remain partners in its future success. In my previous position as executive director of Siouxland Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) I developed strong budgeting, recruitment and strategic planning skills. Within my first year, I introduced initiatives that significantly increased volunteer recruitment and private donations. I later secured $30,000 in additional federal funding while making strides in community engagement, strategic planning and increasing volunteer numbers. Further, I trained non-profit agencies, government entities, and hospitals (locations RSVP calls "stations") in volunteer management, reporting volunteer hours, and mediating difficult situations.
