Working with Jessica is a pleasure. Watching her passion and her emotion come out with young adults shows when getting them into the resources they need; it is amazing. Jessica is a proponent of the long-term involvement of motivational progression that is needed for the young adults involved with or coming out of trauma impacted events. I'm truly grateful for the partnerships and shared clients we have had over the last few years.

    • Lead Resource Navigator/Specialist
      • Sep 2021 - Present

Support the expansion of resource navigation across the organization. Consult with resource navigators needing guidance around housing, employment, education, mental health, substance use, parenting plans, public benefits, foster care, legal advocacy, and more. Provide direct service to participants in Deep Dive and oversee two resource navigtaors. Deep Dive is an 18-month cohort-style program designed to engage young men aged 16 to 27 identified as the most vulnerable to participate in or be the victim of gun violence. Each young man is assigned an ambassador (mentor with lived experience) and resource navigator and attends weekly classes focused on identifying their strengths and areas of growth, bolstering healthy conflict resolution, processing and healing from trauma, identifying aspirations and setting plans to achieve them, understanding historical perspectives that have shaped their lives, and other topics that focus not on what to think, but how to think. In this role, I track participants' cases, work closely with public defenders, mitigation specialists, and forensic psychologists, and provide legal advocacy. I also work with electric home monitoring/detention caseworkers, probation officers, and DOC community custody officers. Each participant has unique personal and professional goals, and I support them in overcoming barriers to attain these goals.I continue to cultivate new community partnerships and resources, as well as write grants to support our work.
