Worked as an itinerant teacher of the deaf and hard of hearing with children in early intervention (birth-3 years) and preschool (3-5 years). Completed lesson planning, data collection, wrote goals for IFSPs and IEPs. Highly collaborative role that included working closely with teachers, other related service providers (PT, OT, SLP, TVI and audiologist), medical teams (MAPing audiologists, ENTs) and most importantly parents. Worked to improve access to and use of amplification technology, communication options (supported full spectrum from ASL only to auditory verbal), as well as cognitive and social skill development. Provided evaluations as part of as multidisciplinary team for entry into early intervention and CPSE services. Experience with students who: were completing auditory habilitation following cochlear implant surgery, bilateral and unilateral losses using BTE hearing aids as well as BAHA softband devices, multiply disabled students and students with auditory neuropathy spectrum disorder. Worked with students and families across a variety of settings, including homes, daycares, and preschools.
