I worked as a 6th and 7th-grade science teacher and 3rd-5th grade interventional math teacher. By the end of the first quarter, I had the second highest student test scores out of any teacher at my school. When my students took their science national growth test at the end of their first semester with me, their results showed 10.8 months of growth within a four-month period. During the third quarter, I co-founded an after-school program for girls at our school, The Heroic Girl. The Heroic Girl grew to around 20 dedicated members throughout the quarter. My co-founder and I worked to empower our students with the tools and skills they needed to be leaders in school, at home, and in their personal lives through open discussion, confidence building, and bettering the local community. As President of Refugee Outreach Collective (ROC) MSU, we work to better educate the student body of MSU about global refugee and migration crises, as well as assist the local community of recently resettled families. ROC MSU connects students directly with volunteer opportunities with recently resettled families in the Lansing area. ROC MSU has put together donation drives, panels on displacement, and film festivals in the past. This semester we hope to hold another film festival of documentaries on those going through displacement, as well as a 5K fundraiser. Show less

As President of No Lost Generation MSU, I worked to focus our club on raising awareness on MSU’s campus about refugee crises and how we as students can aid these individuals in need; as there is a heavy presence of refugees in the Lansing area, and also how we can help those around the world through fundraising as well as emotional support.

    • Partnerships Chair
      • Jan 2018 - May 2018

I facilitated partnerships between local/global non-profit organizations and MSU No Lost Generation initiative. My job was to find non-profits that are passionate about helping refugees so that we can reach out and help in any way we can by either fundraising for them or increasing awareness on our campus about their mission.
