After spending a year working on benthic macroinvertebrate research in the Environmental Science and Management graduate department, I transferred to the Biology graduate department to work on a different project with Dr. Jeffrey White. I am now writing a book on the biological implications of modern food production and anticipate graduating by 2023.

Working as a watershed restoration technician for the Watershed Stewards Program, in partnership with Americorps and the CCC's, under CDFW, stationed at the Bureau of Land Management office in Arcata. The Watershed Stewards Program's (WSP) mission is to conserve, restore, and enhance anadromous watersheds for future generations by linking education with high quality scientific practices. I Independently conducted multi-mile, multi-day surveys for spawning salmon, salamanders, and hydrology patterns in watersheds throughout Humboldt County. I planned and led a watershed awareness project, recruiting 67 volunteers to decommission social trails, restoring over 3 miles of riparian habitat. I taught multiple courses of the six-week Wonders of Watersheds program to hundreds of students, leading multiple field trips and preforming salmon dissections. I have designed and taught lessons at six separate education fairs, created and presented a booth activity on human impact at the week-long “Creek Days” outdoor education fair, and lead a group of 100 students during Kids Ocean Day, where over 1000 students restored dune ecosystems and posed for areal seabird conservation art. Much of my education work is done in the field or involves bringing nature to the classroom. I also assist my mentors, the BLM staff, and local graduate students in their research and fieldwork. As an office technician, I preformed GIS modeling of North Coast marine seascapes, edited and was published as a contributor for annual technical reports, and independently analyzed data to catalog invertebrate and fish species seen in M.A.R.E. ROV video and still footage. I began my position here as an intern, and continued my work as an independent contractor thereafter.
