Mentorship Coordinator
-
2013 - 2014
As the mentorship coordinator, I facilitated connections between youth aged 16-29 and career mentors in the Brockville community. I helped develop the program and promoted it to youth, recruiting new program interest regularly. I interviewed and assessed potential program participants used professional judgment and intuition to determine readiness and suitability for mentorship. I contributed to program policy and procedure design and provided training for both mentees and mentors to help foster a positive mentorship experience. I acted as liaison between mentees and mentors, and monitored pair relationships. Throughout the relationship, I acted professionally and communicated effectively with tact to diffuse conflicts and mediate relationships. I also developed and delivered workshops on learning and career-related skills such as resume and cover letter writing, and interview skills. In my position, I took initiative and reached out to establish and foster positive new relationships with community schools and businesses. I also represented the Employment and Education Centre on the Youth Advisory Committee for the City of Brockville, and the Youth Engagement Squad for Leeds and Grenville. Show less
