Resident Advisor

A resident advisor is a pastoral care role. It involves welcoming residents into both their wing and the college. Resident advisors are their first port of call if they have any issues (eg. Homesickness, settling into uni, mental health issues, relationships etc). If within our capabilities we help them work through these or else refer them on to someone who can. Our role as a resident advisor also involves organising wing events which includes budgeting for the event. This role requires us to be enthusiastic, committed, compassionate, considerate and good time managers as we must balance work with studies. Other aspects of this role include acting as wing fire warden, helping with the planning and delivery of college events organised by resident coordinators, participating in inter college sport and attending both weekly meetings and most college events. Our job is to build relationships and make residents feel welcomed and part of our college family.
