Johann Malawana
Jess was one of the founding scholars in our first cohort at The Healthcare Leadership Academy. She is an incredibly hard working and dedicated professional. She volunteered to support an undergraduate course in addition, and was an incredible support and inspiration to undergraduates on that course. She is clearly interested and dedicated to making the medical profession and the NHS a better place and she has a natural ability to make people at ease and work well within a team as well as lead. Really looking forward to seeing what Jess goes onto do in her future career. I think she will be a dedicated and conscientious representative of the profession in the future.

I completed my medical elective at The Health Foundation. I worked with the policy team, the research team and the improvement team. My main project was to seek the views of stakeholders on the recently published AoMRC Quality Improvement report that made a number of recommendations to build capability of healthcare professionals to undertake quality improvement projects. I have also looked into patient representation as part of the Q Community - a community of quality improvement experts from many backgrounds (clinicians, managers, policy makers, patient leaders).
