Jesse did an excellent job building support for the Obama campaign in Central New Hampshire, NE of Concord. I had the pleasure of working with him briefly -- he was a persuasive and motivating leader. I was also particularly impressed by his -- eventually successful efforts to win the support of my New Hampshire relations: rock-ribbed independents who were no easy sell. Jesse is a great campaigner with a bright political future.

As BPI's Senior Director for Impact & Mobilization I had the honor of working with an incredible team of leaders in the space of public affairs, digital communications, persuasion, and advertising for companies, campaigns, and causes. Clients included Biden for President, Patagonia, the DSCC, ACLU, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment, and many more. Was honored to play a role in winning and defending the Senate in Georgia, engaging video gamers for Biden for President with a first of it's kind gaming influencer campaign, winning Best Creative from Digiday and various awards for effective mobile marketing in support of Biden-Harris 2020, helping the State of Kansas spread vaccine awareness during the COVID pandemic, and supporting a massive effort from Corporate America to increase economic opportunity for African Americans in the wake of the movement sparked by George Floyd's murder. I was the lead product strategist at Crowdpac and I managed a team of product managers and marketers strategizing, delivering, promoting, and maintaining products to help people participate in the political process. We look for areas in the political process where we can provide value for potential leaders to begin running for office, activate communities, raise money and take action. We also create valuable tools for citizens to become more informed and knowledgeable voters, engaged not just in big national elections but elections every year in their own communities. I developed the revenue model for Crowdpac, own product strategy and audience growth. Our products have helped raise millions of dollars for causes and candidates in just a few quarters shortly after their debut by focusing on unique values like helping people collect pledges of support that only get charged if people officially file to run for office. We've been featured in Tech Crunch, Fast Company, CNN, NY Times, Rachel Maddow show and many other outlets because of the unique advantages our products have introduced to the political technology space. vote.BarackObama.com One of the best experiences in my life was managing the Digital Programs for President Obama's re-election campaign around voter registration and voting information. I managed the campaigns digital voter registration tools and helped over 1.5 million people register to vote online. We used data-driven and experimental approaches to efficiently deploy resources registering voters at as low a cost per registration as possible. I also conceived and deployed a smart voter information app at vote.barackobama.com that powered voting information tools via api for the entire Democratic electoral ecosystem. I developed the brand strategy based on social science research that focused on the ease of voting rather than the threat of voter suppression. Our app gave voters exactly the facts they needed in all 50 states +DC in English and Spanish to vote based on the calendar and the laws of their states. These apps were the primary plug for President and Mrs. Obama during their campaign stops as well as for celebrity surrogates, campaign field literature, and radio, television, and digital marketing not focused on fundraising. Deputy Director for Interactive Communications An amazing experience trying to tell the tale of USA's international development efforts to the American public as well as training our missions around the world on their efforts to communicate in countries around the world. As the Obama Administration would make famous during the rollout of healthcare.gov, the US Government is a traditionally difficult environment for innovative digital marketing. As a political appointee at USAID in the office of Legislative & Public Affairs, I was tasked to help modernize the digital marketing chops of a $19 billion agency. I built a digital video operation for the agency both for USAID in DC and for the missions abroad that included digital video production and live streaming. I also helped to lead the effort to redesign USAID.gov including the vendor procurement process, agency stakeholder engagement, requirements gathering, and content strategy. I was involved in two special campaigns, one for the 50th anniversary and another award-winning campaign in partnership with the AdCouncil called F.W.D. that won awards for its efforts calling attention to the famine in the horn of Africa with data and map-driven story telling. The job of a lifetime. I started my experience in the Obama movement as a volunteer trained in community and field organizing at Camp Obama in Chicago in the spring of 2007. I joined the campaign in New Hampshire in June of 2007 as a Field Organizer and then traveled to South Carolina, Maryland, New York, Ohio, and Pennsylvania to recruit, build, and deploy, ever growing armies of supporters to get out the vote for then Senator Obama in primary election contests. I was selected to one of 12 organizers across the country to lead in-state transition efforts between primary and general elections and remained in Pennsylvania where I would become Regional Field Director in Philadelphia for the 2008 general election. At the beginning of my experience I would be greeted with jokes about my candidate being a sleeper Al-Qaeda agent and jeers when I would invite voters to attend a house parties with Barack Obama and a handful of neighbors. At the end of my experience I was drawing tens of thousands of people into the streets and delivering field pitches before events with superstars like Bruce Springsteen, Jay-Z, P Diddy, Beyonce, Russel Simmons, Mary J. Blige, Carole King, and Barack Obama himself. It was the most entrepreunerial experience one could ask for, being dropped in a community with a phone and a @barackobama.com email address and scrounging up a donated office and building a volunteer operation that could turn out tens of thousands of voters using community organizing training and a relentless commitment to clear quantifiable goals and obsessive measurement.
