I had the pleasure to work with Jesse at BrainFinance. Always available to give some help or advises, he is full focused on the continuous improvement about the projet he's working on. It's quite rare in the "development world" but Jesse is part of the devs who are sharing the knowledge very often (tutorials on Confluence), about every new feature that he developed ! Congrats and good luck for the next years !

BrainFinance is a financial technology company. It utilizes machine learning and automation capabilities to provide financial services through its online platform. I have helped develop the new version of its system. It uses RESTful architecture built on top of the Phalcon MVC framework. I am part of the Back-End team which manages the API's related to communication, document management, third-party data, and content management for the agents. I worked as a software developer for Square One Insurance. I worked primarily with web technologies (specifically the LAMP stack) to build features for both the client facing website and internal tools used by the insurance agents and other staff. The consumer friendly website allows clients to customize their policy and buy insurance entirely online. The internal tools help agents assist customers who phone in and need to update their policy. I was part of a small team of three developers. I worked closely and communicated daily with the staff who used the features I developed and the quality assurance lead.

Worked as a graduate Teachers Assistant for two years for four different classes. My specific job duties varied depending on course but I had to be present in class and help students including consulting with them about their assignments and projects. I had to mark papers and course work and help meet with the students to review progress of their group projects and help facilitate and offer advice regarding group conflict and management. Worked to build and conduct a series of usability tests using the Xbox Kinect. The aim of the project was to develop test scenarios to better understand how humans interact naturally using movement and gestures with the Kinect and to develop design principles for such gestural systems. I worked at Sphenic technologies for my third and fourth co-op terms. It is a small automotive engineering company. I designed an interface for one of their products, SPDI Spark, a new type of spark plug in which you could load spark profiles when it was connected to a computer. I was in charge of the design and implementation of the first version of the interface and figuring out the general interface for translating what the user wanted to do into instructions for the hardware of the device. I Worked for Environment Canada in the Water Survey division for my second co-op term. The Water Survey division is in charge of collecting water level and flow data from hundreds of water monitors all across Canada. I was in charge of maintaining, debugging, and upgrading, of two of their online applications that query the database and allow a user to get real time and stored water data that goes back in some cases over a hundred years. The applications displayed the data in several different forms (table, graph, etc) and let the user download different report formats. I fixed numerous bugs and preformed rigorous testing to make sure it was obtaining the correct information from the database.I also had to made sure it all complied with the common look and feel and I did a lot of server-side programming

Worked for Professor Ali Ayra on various research projects for my first co-op term. The main project being the translation and development of drivers for a Haptic Device, from C++ into C# so further applications could be developed for the Haptic Device in a C# environment. Had a high degree of freedom and autonomy: had to carry out tasks by myself and research ways and develop methods to implement the project goals. I would report to my Professor for guidance when I encountered a problem beyond my knowledge or had fulfilled a major project goal.
