Traffic Engineering Services is a civilian section of the Police Department responsible for the design, maintenance, and construction of all traffic control devices within the City of Albany. The unit's main functions are traffic engineering design and operations, traffic signal maintenance, and traffic sign/pavement marking installation and maintenance. As Traffic Technician, I have been involved with the design and construction of several streetscape and traffic signal projects including Madison Avenue Complete Streets and Washington, Western, and New Scotland Avenue Traffic Signal and ITS Improvements. Likewise, I compiled reports on traffic safety, which were then used to inform street design. These reports summarized crash data such as type of crash, severity, weather/roadway conditions, and other contributing factors gathered from police reports and the red light camera enforcement system. In addition to safety reports, I assisted with the review and approval of Emergency No Parking postings. Using Microsoft Excel, I created a database for all postings and associated billing information. By transitioning from a paper to a digital tracking system, I streamlined the posting process while making data on postings more readily available. Show less

CDTA is the premier mobility provider in the Capital region, providing fixed route bus service, shuttle systems, and paratransit services to Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, and Schenectady counties. As a planning intern, I assisted in the preparation of service plans, including analysis of route alignments and service frequencies. Using Microsoft Excel, I analyzed ridership and schedule performance data which I collected through both point and ride checks, as well as computer generated data received from APCs. This data then helped me to build proposed schedules using HASTUS. In addition to service planning, I was responsible for generating a series of maps showing service frequencies in the Capital Region. Using ArcGIS and CDTA's GTFS, I was able to build a basemap which was then exported to Adobe Illustrator to be visually refined. Show less

The study included data collection and analysis of traffic volumes as well as bus schedules. Based on the data, I conducted an alternatives analysis which included a significant amount of graphic rendering and mapping using Adobe Photoshop and InDesign. Show less
