I worked alongside Jess at the McCusker Centre for Citizenship from December 2019 until December 2020 as part of a small team of academic staff with responsibilities for student learning, and as a collaborator in a Teaching Focus Group created to encourage peer professional learning for the team. I observed Jess in her roles supervising students on international and local placements, and coordinating a flagship mentoring program that paired emerging student leaders with key figures in the community sector. In addition, Jess developed new curriculum materials, created necessary working documents, participated in evaluation and development of programs, wrote a funding proposal and developed a framework for a virtual global inter-university experiential learning program. Jess is a quick thinker who grasps concepts easily with a gift for breaking these down for easy application. She works diligently and crams a great deal into tight time-frames. I particularly valued Jess's expertise in online learning which she generously shared through our teaching group as part of our efforts to rapidly upskill in a year that was challenging for higher education. I continue to collaborate with Jess on research and writing projects and readily recommend her to others.

It was an absolute joy to work alongside Jess at the McCusker Centre for Citizenship within The University of Western Australia. Jess is a very conscientious, thoughtful and highly intelligent person who is always happy to lend a hand, offer advice or brainstorm new ideas. In my Communications Officer role, Jess and I worked especially well together coming up with innovative ways to engage with and educate students about the internship and mentoring programs. While she showed great dedication to her numerous independent responsibilities, Jess especially shines in a team environment. She is kind, generous with her time, and a truly delightful person to be around. I would be very happy to work with Jess again.

In these roles, I facilitate weekly tutorials, which requires the development of a variety of activities to support student learning effectively. This includes the development of quizzes and games, discussion questions and group work, screenings and close readings that are tailored to the needs of different learning styles. These tutorials are primarily discussion-based, and require the development of appropriate discussion questions, and facilitation of respectful discussion. These tutorials are delivered face-to-face, online, synchronously and asynchronously. They have also been delivered to smaller tutorial-sized classes, as well as to larger workshop-sized groups. These tutorials have occurred in first-year, second-year, third-year and Masters-level courses. As part of this role I have also been responsible for marking student assessments, providing feedback to course coordinators about the effectiveness of the course and its materials, and providing pastoral care to students in my classes.
