KLC is a daycare center in Sarver, Pennsylvania. As a camp counselor, I was responsible for 15 children aged 4-13 for 8 hours a day. I lead crafts and games, and I watched for my group's safety while playing on the playground, in the creek, and in the pool. I was also responsible for teaching lessons relating to the week's theme, which included STEM Week, Shark Week, and Big Science Week. In addition, I kept our pavilion and other play areas clean and tidy. I used some social media skills to update the Facebook page weekly to keep parents in the loop with what fun their kids had each day. JML Landscape Management is a locally owned, full-service landscape management corporation based in Pittsburgh, PA. My main duty as the Accounts Payable Intern at JML was to process the invoices for all three branches of the company. This included receiving them by both mail and email and then coding each of them to a specific account to keep track of all expenses. At the end of every day, I sent all of the invoices to the parent company. Along with this, I calculated any additional sales tax on each invoice and then recorded the amount by account number, invoice number, and branch location in an Excel database where it was totaled and paid monthly. The experience I had at JML Landscape was very important to me as it was my first exposure to working near my field of study. I learned how to work both quickly and efficiently in this position, and how to stay organized when hundreds of papers could cross my desk in a week. Show less

Novotny's Pizza is a small pizza shop based in the historic town of Saxonburg, PA. As the Front of House at Novotny's Pizza, my responsibility was primarily customer service, beginning with taking orders from three phones, two online ordering services, and in-person all at the same time. If any orders were incorrect, late, or unsatisfactory in any way, I would work with the customer to appease the issue, whether it involved a replacement order, a gift certificate for their next visit, or a refund, per restaurant policy. Since, I worked during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, I did my best to make sure the work and restaurant areas were cleaned and sanitized many times over during each of my shifts. My time at Novotny's provided me with experience in multitasking, handling difficult situations, and working directly with customers. Show less
