I was lucky enough to work alongside Jess for two years during her time as our elected Welfare & Community Officer at Leeds Beckett Students’ Union and as the staff lead for her second year objective to prevent student suicide. From day 1 Jess was committed to delivering the very best for students, quickly learning who could assist in achieving measurable change and what she needed to know to contribute to University working groups spanning topics such as sexual harassment & violence, mental health & suicide, and anti race-hate. Jess is a highly competent and skilled colleague who I’d have no hesitation recommending. In whichever direction Jess chooses I am confident that she will be an asset to those she serves and who benefit from her contribution and presence.

As a student trustee, one of main responsibilities on the board is to represent the student voice and ensure that the interests of students in the rental market are being both protected and enhanced by the charities work and visions. In 2018 I helped to form the Forward Look, which sets the direction of work of the charity for the next 3 years, and sets the principles that underpin this work. Through this, I ensured that student well-being was a core tenet and lobbied for it's importance to be paramount in all of Unipols work.Other responsibilities include:- Updating the board on housing related campaign activity at LBSU, and demonstrating the effectiveness of these with measurable impacts. For example, the 'House of Horrors' campaign I ran saw a 52% increase in students visiting the SU Advice Service with housing related queries.- Ensuring that Unipol is carrying out it's purpose for the public benefit.- Holding the charity to account in its pursuit of its aims.- Ensure the charity's accounts are a true reflection of it's activity Show less
