Bio
James (Jas) Kirkwood
I have worked with Jerry over the past 10 years at Bell. When we met, he was a member of the Material Review Board and was responsible for the disposition of non-conforming parts. He was always thorough and fair with his assessment and disposition. When he moved to a Supplier Manager position, he became our go-to person for questions regarding castings and forgings. As fate would have it, Jerry and I ended up on the same team executing projects to transition parts to new suppliers. Jerry was very skilled at putting together the transition plan with the new suppliers and tracking the plan to ensure the new supplier delivered quality parts on time. He was also instrumental in developing a data analysis tool to help determine costs or savings when moving parts to a new supplier. Jerry has built a well-rounded career taking his engineering background and applying it to project management. He is a good team member, always there to help, and I enjoyed working with him.
James Popiolek
As a strategic sourcing professional, one of my core focuses is evaluating feasibility of sources for strategic long term agreements. Jerry’s knowledge of manufacturing, engineering, and aerospace was absolutely critical in helping me find sources and ultimately execute many long term contracts in the Bell organization. Jerry and I also worked together to build a process between strategic sourcing and engineering to better evaluate sources for agreements. Jerry helped to align expectations between the two groups, build a more efficient process, and improve the integrity of data shared within it. His contributions to defining a complex process, executing a very technical workflow, and ultimately socializing the improvement cannot be understated. Jerry has a passion for improvement, innovation, and most importantly building the people around him. Any team that has Jerry on it has an incredible asset, both from a technical and personal standpoint. Jerry is an incredible engineer and an even better friend to all that have the pleasure of knowing him.
