My role as President gives me the opportunity to lead a team of dedicated and experienced professionals who understand medical devices, product design, development, and manufacturing. One of my guiding principles is to always meet our client’s expectations while keeping the processes and workflow as simples as possible. Often this could be considered a challenge. One of my guiding principles is to always meet our client’s expectations while keeping the processes and workflow as simples as possible. Often this could be considered a challenge. I feel it’s well worth our efforts. To make sure we are meeting our client’s expectations in every aspect of our business, I know leading a great team is only part of the equation. Hiring more of the right people at the right time is vital to our success and as a result vital to the success of our clients. It’s rewarding for me to see our organization serve more diverse and unique organizations involved in Biological and Clinical Formulation, Tissue Processing, Bioengineered Tissue, Active Pharma, and many other areas of medical devices and processes that have a positive impact on peoples lives. Even with our year over year growth, we strive to continue being a nibble organization able to serve our clients with new ideas and processes that allow them to continue having a positive impact on their customers and patients. When graduating from college, I remember being told, “Kids if you leave here today and find a job you love, you’ll never have to work a day in your life.” This is has been the forefront of my entire career. I truly love the work I do, the people I work with and the value we bring to our clients every day. We provide value to our clients thru: Biological Formulations Clinical Formulation Tissue Processing Bioengineered Tissue Active Pharmaceuticals Diagnostic Materials Medical Devices Development to Pre-Clinical to Commercial Regulatory Support Storage & Distribution & Order processing services. I wanted to work in a large animal veterinary practice as a child. I did not get into veterinary school. However, I went to work for an eye bank in Knoxville TN in the late 1990s where I discovered I love this industry and working with talented surgeons. Moving from Knoxville TN to Winston-Salem NC to accept a clinical operations position with the NC Eye Bank kept me on this rewarding and enjoyable journey. I had the privilege of working with lots of great people as we built Occular Systems into a business that was having a real impact on the lives of others. In 2014 I sold this business to CorneaGen. Director of Clinical Services
-
1998 - 2004
Starting in 1998 my role at NC Eye Bank included all areas of cornea tissue recovery, evaluation and transporting. In time I became the Director of Clinical Services and lead all aspects of the clinical operations. One of the most rewarding parts of my work here was learning from our customers how best to serve them and their patients. Leaving this position was the catalyst for me to start Ocular Systems.
