Execute responsibilities as the Navy’s Computer Network Defense (CND) Service Provider tasked with supervising and monitoring a 24/7 enterprise capabilities watch to direct mission systems employment in defense of Navy computer networks and information systems. Direct all required actions to protect, monitor, analyze, detect and respond to unauthorized activity within Navy information systems and computer networks while ensuring timely collection, processing and dissemination of CND information to Navy customers world-wide.Maintain a tactical picture of the defensive posture of the Navy’s portion of the Department of Defense (DOD) Global Information Grid (GIG) through use of internal and external CND and intelligence reports, sensor coverage, communications and analysis. Provide specific direction and guidance on how mission system employment is performed to provide process improvement for the incident management and sensor operations division. Particular emphasis was placed on determining the extent of possible compromises to the GIG at the unit, theatre and global levels. Functioning as the primary interface with the USCYBERCOM DNDO, COMTENTHFLT BWC, NAVGNOSC SCO, NCIS, NTOC, MOC BWC, NMCI-GNOC WO, sister service CNDSPs and the Fleet for CND operations. Ensure coordination regarding the employment of Navy-wide network defense and security capabilities necessary to mitigate threat activity targeting Navy networks. Coordinate and direct appropriate Navy actions to stop computer network attacks, contain damage, restore functionality and make tactical CND decisions in order to minimize the spread of adversarial activity and protect the Navy’s portion of the GIG.
