After years of running the National Guard Child and Youth Program in Iowa, I accepted a position with Harvest Professional Services (now Cognitive Professional Services) as the Western Region Assistant Program Manager. In this position, I manage and oversee Child and Youth Program Coordinators in all the states (and Guam) west of the Mississippi River. Other duties include oversight of travel budgets, planning and implementing professional development trainings and development of key programming resources and policies.

I run a program that provides support for nearly 11,000 military youth throughout the state of Iowa. As the State Youth Coordinator, I provide in-service trainings and briefings for educators on the challenges facing military youth experiencing the deployment of a loved one, coordinate and implement youth-focused trainings and events and maintain an active volunteer force of more than 100 individuals throughout the state. I worked with a team of 13 on the development and implementation of nation-wide military programming for families and community members. Through this position, I was able to travel around the country and train those in the military community on becoming presenters, eduators and trainers. I had the honor of working with youth from various states, while also working with military leadership at the local, state and national levels. I was responsible for eight states, working with State Family Program Directors to identify, prepare and elevate military well-being issues to the highest levels of Command.

I served as one of three sixth grade teachers for the district. During my time of employment, I was responsible for the instruction of various subject matter, administration of standardized testing, served on the FINE State Math Committee and conducted various service learning projects with my students. When needed, I would cover music courses for the building and served as an evaluator for the Area Education Association on 11th grade standardized assessments.
