As a Corps member with EarthCorps, I worked on a crew of 6-7 young adults performing environmental restoration. Projects can included invasive plant removal, herbicide application, erosion control, native plant installation, trail construction and maintenance, and volunteer management. Corps members also participate in workshops and field trainings. These sessions provided a deeper context for the field work experience, with topics covering basic botany and ecology of the Pacific Northwest, environmental restoration theories and concepts, topics in natural resource management and global environmental issues, leadership skills, and interpersonal and cross-cultural communication.
