• Oversee the day to day operation of the largest of three districts covering 215 sq. miles of the county’s 555 sq. miles.• Responsible for 35+ uniform deputies who respond to an average of 2500 calls for service a month.• Review and approve an average of 350 incident reports each month.• Ensures the safety of all officers on shift. • Ensures subordinates' compliance with all applicable policies, procedures, rules, regulations, and directives. • Supervises subordinate officers engaged in the activities of the Patrol Division; supervisory duties include instructing, assigning, and reviewing work, planning, maintaining standards, coordinating activities, allocating personnel, acting on employee problems, and recommending discipline. • Reviews the work of subordinates for completeness and accuracy; evaluates and makes recommendations for improvement as appropriate; offers advice and assistance as needed. • Supervises and reviews calls coming into the department and provide guidance and advice to officers as needed in responding to situations. Reviews current crime data and crime trends. • Develops and ensures that strategies to combat known issues are carried out by subordinates. • Serves as on call Watch Commander for the entire county on a rotating basis. • Remains abreast of all federal and state laws, and ordinances; informs subordinates of any changes and ensures the implementation/enforcement of same. • Receives, reviews, prepares, and processes various records and reports to include incident reports, overtime slips, vacation/sick time slips, vehicle check sheets, property check sheets, payroll forms, etc. • Crisis/Hostage Negotiations Team Leader- On call to respond as lead negotiator in any hostage situation or any crisis situation, such as a barricaded subject or inmate, suicidal subject, homicidal subject, etc.
