Bio
Emily (Ying Ying) Cheng
I was a student of Mr. Jensen’s during my final two years of high school at the International School in Ho Chi Minh City. In his classes, Mr. Jensen challenged me in various manners. His lessons addressed not only the academic content itself but also our points of view on issues we thought too formidable for us high school students to tackle, such as feminism and racism. Moreover, Mr. Jensen was very passionate about teaching. He patiently helped his students become well-rounded people while still challenging us to think critically. Three years after graduating from high school, I still find myself using the same critical thinking skills he had taught me in his English classes. As a high school student, I could have never imagined the tremendous impact that an English class could have on me as an individual. Having Mr. Jensen as a teacher was a privilege, and I thank him for shaping who I am today.

I was taught, by Mr. Jensen, in English Literature and Language for my last two years of the IB Diploma Programme. During these two years, I was amazed by Mr. Jensen’s passion for the subject and how interesting, yet challenging, each lesson was. He paid much attention to how his students learned best, and made sure that all teaching methods were used, whether visual, active or verbal, so all of his students succeeded. Mr. Jensen was always happy to help or stay behind a little longer after class, whenever I needed some extra support or had any further questions to what was discussed in class. Mr. Jensen is definitely a teacher that I respect and trust. He makes a great difference in every classroom!
