  Actively promote the necessity for fellow medical school students and faculty at SLU SOM to serve the underserved here in Saint Louis and abroad. Instrumental in creating a health literacy elective to teach immigrant and refugee mothers essential lessons on health, wellness, and the American medical system and a second elective on patient navigation/advocacy that pairs first and second year medical school students with immigrant and refugee families to advocate on the families’ behalf at their doctor’s visits. Working with SLU SOM’s Dean of Curriculum and faculty from Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital to design and staff a clinic for immigrant and refugee patients beginning in the Fall of 2015. Organized and hosted a public panel discussion on the socio-economic and racial divisions in Saint Louis entitled, “Symptoms of the Delmar Divide.” Panelists included a city alderwoman, SLU faculty, and a local pastor. Worked directly with both the Dean of the Honors College and the Dean for Student Living and Learning to improve student retention in the Honors Residential College. Student representative to the East Village Advisory Committee for the purpose of planning for a new 900-bed residential complex to be built at Baylor in the Fall of 2012.
