As a sessional instructor in the Physical Sciences department at an independent, not-for-profit university I had classes ranging between 10 and 20 students. To follow Quest's mission statement, my classes were aimed at open, round-table discussion of topics and scientific papers. This allows the students to formulate their own questions and engage more actively in their own learning. I taught two different courses at Quest. The first, Natural Hazards, introduced students to the earth sciences using the natural hazards in their own region (earthquakes, landslides, floods) as a base. The second, Energy and Matter, introduced students to chemistry and physics by focusing on the science of energy production using renewable energy resources (wind, water, solar). Show less

Reporting directly to the President and CEO of the company my responsibilities included: surveying, sampling and analysis of coastal intertidal habitats; developing remediation projects based on the data analysis; and supervising the remediation, which was carried out by external marine engineering firms. I was assigned as the team leader for a few of the projects where I was responsible for managing a team of no less than 3 people and liaising between the client and contractors, quantity surveyors, scientific advisers, and members of the United Nations Security Council. Reconstructed water conditions within a phreatic cave system using sediment cores and surface samples in order to determine Holocene sea level changes in the Caribbean Basin.Collection was done using advanced technical and cave SCUBA diving methods which required intensive training over a few years.Cores were logged and analyzed for lithology (LOI), micropalaeontology (foraminifera/testate amoebae), organic and carbonate isotopes (d13C and d18O), and particle size distribution. Samples were prepared and sent for radiocarbon dating to establish chronology. Show less
