As President and Executive Director of the MPAA, I am dedicated to advocating for the needs of medical marijuana patients and their caregivers in Massachusetts. Drawing on my seven years of experience as a volunteer and patient advocate with the MPAA, I am committed to ensuring that patients have safe, legal, and affordable access to the medicine they need. By working closely with lawmakers, regulators, and operators, I am confident that we can create a more compassionate and equitable healthcare system that serves the needs of all patients. Show less

Jeremiah MacKinnon is the founder and lead reporter at NEC News Today where he manages all content creation, editing, and direction. He is also the weekly host of the NEC News Today video newscast. When it comes to finding an individual enthusiastic about everything cannabis in New England there are few comparable with Jeremiah MacKinnon. Jeremiah has been part of the cannabis community in Massachusetts since at least 2014 where he helped lead and develop the Cannabis Society of Massachusetts, one of the largest organizations hosting regular cannabis events in the Commonwealth up until 2020. He is also known for ensuring transparency during the early stages of the Massachusetts cannabis industry when he recorded the earliest Massachusetts Cannabis Control Commission meetings prior to the Commission itself recording their own meetings. Because of his passionate advocacy for medical cannabis patients, he has been included in many articles on the subject including WBUR, Channel 5 WCVB, WWLP 22 News, and Boston 25. His locally famous mohawk was featured prominently in a Boston Globe business article on the Northeastern Institute of Cannabis as far back as December 2014. As the leader of NEC News Today, Jeremiah intends to report and experience everything cannabis in the New England region has to offer. Show less

My work as a volunteer and advisor involved frequent interactions with the Department of Public Health and Cannabis Control Commission on issues such as the patient registration process, financial hardship programs, caregivers, and many other facets of the Massachusetts medical marijuana program. I advised the Executive Board, advocated for full implementation of the medical marijuana law through legislation and regulation, assisted patients registering with the program, helped MPAA develop key programs, and maintained content on the website. My advocacy for medical cannabis patients has been featured included in stories with key media outlets including WBUR, Channel 5 WCVB, WWLP 22 News, Boston 25, and The Boston Globe. Show less

      • Nov 2012 - Nov 2014

From November 2012 until September 2013 I worked as the main Carriage Retriever; working give or take a 30-hr workweek, most days after school, after having also babysat my then six-year-old sister. At my 9-month review, I was promoted from to Lead Dairy Merchandiser. At that point my duties included breaking down multiple palates of dairy product and making sure the merchandise was properly displayed in it’s respective window. I maintained a sanitary work space, rotated stock, dealt with customers, and planed ahead to best move the incoming product. I was awarded ‘Star of The Month’ January 2013 for exceeding my duties. Willing to take direction from my superiors - I managed to maintain a good report with my co-workers; whether managerial or custodial. I was always willing to take on jobs that were out of my specific job title. Show less
