This past summer I completed my second summer with the Institute for Responsible Citizenship, an intensive two-summer leadership program for African American male college students around the country. During the first summer, each scholar participated in an internship during the day in their respective field of interest (I interned with the UNC at Chapel Hill School of Medicine Department of Neurosurgery), and completed a course on “Reconstruction and the Era of Citizenship” during the evening. In addition to this, we met with prominent public and private sector leaders (e.g., General Colin Powell and Secretary Lloyd Austin). This past summer summer, I completed the UNC at Chapel Hill School of Medicine’s Medical Education Development (MED) Program and graduated from the program. Show less
