Justin Stark
I had the privilege of working with Jeramie on several projects over the past couple of years, and I would highly recommend him to any team. He is a hardworking, hyper-intelligent engineer with a positive attitude. Jeramie has excellent instincts and is often at the forefront of identifying pitfalls in a plan. He's quick to provide potential solutions or workarounds, helping to avoid the complexity that arises from finding these problems later in the product lifecycle. He has a rare ability to see the whole picture, yet can also dive into the deepest technical levels of a project. He stays updated on the latest development technologies, models, and methodologies and can offer efficient solutions to almost any problem. Jeramie's well-rounded troubleshooting skills and ability to communicate complex concepts in simple ways make him an ideal addition to teams with all levels of experience. His sense of humor and easygoing nature helped create an environment with a positive and engaging atmosphere. I have no doubt that Jeramie will continue to excel wherever he goes!

In my role at Viavi I focus mainly on low-level embedded systems design and development running predominantly on embedded linux. I have also worked on bare-metal programming of ARM micro-controllers, and some high level UI programming using Qt and QML. Some of my key responsibilities include:· Work on products for test & measurement of avionic systems for commercial and military applications· Implement embedded Linux kernel modules for IIO, Character, and PCIe device drivers· Create and manage Yocto recipes for building linux images with CI/CT pipelines · Build bare-metal and embedded RTOS software for ARM micro-controller co-processors· Design platform agnostic C++ libraries and Linux services to interface with driver layers· Manage build and CI pipelines for multiple projects using Jenkins and Docker· Assist the FPGA Firmware team to implement software for RF test applications· Create many tools and processes to increase hardware-in-the-loop integration and unit testing Show less

During my time at Garmin I was lead project engineer on vıvofit 4, vıvofit Jr. 2, and a not yet announced entry level running watch. I was responsible for designing and testing the entire electrical design of the projects as well as interfacing with suppliers and vendors. I gained experience designing, testing, and tuning Inverted-F GPS and 2.4GHz Antennas on small wearable products. I also conducted battery life modeling and validation of products designed to operate for over one year on a single coin cell battery requiring a sub 30mW average power drawI also worked closely with low level software team. Working with them I would help troubleshoot firmware and driver issues where software and hardware interacted. This included testing and optimizing signal timings on serial interfaces, decoding communication between multiple MCUs, and creating pseudo analog signals to reliably and repeatably simulate analog sensors for testing and to optimize algorithms. I led an effort to make the wearable products we were developing easier to test and debug by designing a method of multiplexing SWD signals into the propitiatory Garmin universal charge cable allowing sealed locked up units to be debugged and tested without loosing the units state. This effort directly led to quickly solving issues on units that traditionally would have been very hard to track down and resolve. Show less

Jun 2015 - Jun 2016
Electrical design engineer in the fitness electronics division of Garmin. My primary role was assisting in the testing and roll out of the Edge 520 biking computer. I also helped many of the other design engineers with their various projects and led a research project looking at cutting edge PCB technologies that could be used in wearable smart electronics to minimize size.

Teacher of Computer Operating Systems
-
Jan 2015 - May 2015
I taught a senior level computer operating systems course of over 80 students. My duties included lecturing three hours per week, writing daily quizzes and three exams, and creating new weekly lab projects. I used this as an opportunity to update much of the outdated class resources that had been used in the past, and many of the new labs I designed are still in use for this course four years later. The class was taught using the C programming language and I taught my students advanced C programming techniques, as well as core operating systems topics including multi-threading in both user and kernel space, file systems, memory sand-boxing and lookup, and interprocess communication. I made extensive use of Git and GitHub for the class as a method of distributing all the course material and for students to turn in their labs and projects. Show less
