As part of the flight readiness process I, along with the Program Office and TDM Safety & Mission Assurance, developed and prepared the required documentation in order to certify a flight demonstration project ready for flight. As the aCE, I continually assessed each Project’s technical and schedule related risks and provided weekly and monthly assessments to the Mission Manager(MM), Program Office, FPPO, TDM Program Executive and the HQ Office of the Chief Engineer. I assessed the overall program level risks and was a supporting member of the Program Risk Board. I provided the MM with feedback on technical issues related to the project and helped the MM and Program Manager form Program positions on technical issues.

    • Lead Engineer, CERMET Fuels Development, Nuclear Cryogenic Propulsion Stage Project
      • ‏أكتوبر 2011 - ‏أغسطس 2014

My AES Nuclear Cryogenic Propulsion Stage (NCPS) Fuel Design and Fabrication Project Lead duties included complete project planning, execution and reporting to meet project milestones; generating requirements documents, development plans, schedules, procedures, budgets and reporting progress and issues up to NCPS Project Management and AES Program Management. I was responsible for the material and process development of ceramic metal matrix composite advanced reactor materials. In order to meet those milestones, I led a core team of 6 engineers and managed a budget of $1.2 million dollars. I coordinated and led activities between and within the Materials Laboratory, Testing Laboratory, Propulsion Department, Procurement Office and MSFC Facilities Office to continually progress the project schedule. My Task Lead activities allowed me to work with not only with MSFC but other NASA Centers and Federal Agencies including JSC, GRC, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Idaho National Laboratory. Under my leadership a nuclear fuels development laboratory, unique within NASA, was established to safely handle and process depleted and low enriched uranium for the design, fabrication and test of nuclear fuels. Obtaining this capability involved meeting strenuous safety requirements with thoroughly documented laboratory safety and handling procedures and controls. I worked with MSFC Facilities, MSFC Radiation Safety Office and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission to build up the laboratory to the required standards and specifications.
