The Faculty of Science is a very heterogenous group, so the president and vice-president try to compromise and formulate opinions about policy proposals of the Faculty and the University that are applicable to all the study areas, if possible. We are the first student contacts for the Faculty and the University and speak for all our students.

In Leuven, all the students are represented by their student association. The praeses is the head of these organisations and has the final responsability over all its activities and decisions. There are two major roles for a praeses in Leuven - Coordinating all the activities, making sure his/her team functions properly, leading the meetings where the activities are planned and evaluated. - The praeses is also the representative of the students in his association, in my case all the students who major in Biology. He meets with the professors and other student representatives to determine the policy of the department, faculty and university. Show less
