My research synthesises research from two different areas; cognitive psychology and nutrition. This involves understanding theoretical, methodological and practical aspects from both disciplines and applying them in a novel way.My specific research topic looks at the mechanisms of distraction induced over eating. Specifically, when our attentional capacity is full, do we still notice food and how does this affect eating? This includes the effect of distraction on awareness of flavour, intake and satiety. I’m also interested in how individuals differ in these mechanisms.

Experimental programming
-
2017 - 2017
I carried out programming work to create and launch online experiments looking at visual attention, perceptual processing and memory. I used inquisit software as this allows participants to download the experiment and carry it out at home, therefore reaching a large and diverse sample.

Research Assistant

Worked on a range of cognitive and behavioural projects. I was involved in experimental design, conductance and analysis. Running the practicalities of these studies involved clearly explaining procedures to ensure participant understanding, precise time management to allow for simultaneous testing and debriefing of study implications. Results from several of these projects are currently being written up for publication. Worked on a range of cognitive and behavioural projects.
