Jenny was a pleasure to work with. She has a natural talent for landscape design, with an emphasis in using native and pollinator species. She is very skilled in bird identification and compiled a catalogue of birds on site. She is very dependable, hard working and passionate about the environment and conservation. It was a pleasure mentoring her in the field of horticulture and plant identification, she asked inquisitive questions and learnt technical skills needed for the position quite fast.

As a field technician with BSC, the main component of my job was to conduct area searches and point counts at specific UTM coordinates in tracts of Carolinian Forest. I also searched for nests and monitored the nests of Louisiana Waterthrush and Acadian Flycatchers. In addition, I mapped Cerulean Warbler territories and conducted vegetation surveys within those territories, and occasionally searched for and recorded presence of Prothonotary Warblers. Finally, when all field work was done I entered species and vegetation data in Excel.

During my two summers at Sandbanks, I was tasked mostly with removing invasive plant species and educating the public about the natural and cultural history of the park. I used field guides to identify various plant and animal species, assisted in presenting programs to all audiences, designed new displays for the visitor centre, and crafted/painted/sketched pieces when needed.
