I would hire Jenny permanently any minute if I had the budget! She is precise, original in her approach and loyal.

Leiden International Centre (formerly Expat Centre Leiden) is a non-profit organisation that provides services, information and events for internationals living and working in the Leiden region. We also support employers of internationals and work closely with local expat-focussed businesses. There are over 20,000 internationals in the region; their talent is integral for economic growth and establishing Leiden as a Knowledge Hub. My role: - Account manager for our 40+ local service partners - Manage our helpdesk and BSN registration appointments - Supervise our talented interns - Oversee the development of marketing and communication materials to inform and guide internationals and employers (website, social media and in print) - Keep up-to-date on the latest developments in (international) talent and immigration Leiden International Centre is a business unit of Leiden&Partners. • Researcher & Editor - The Science Route
      • Sep 2021 - Feb 2022

The Science Route has been created by Leiden&Partners and Leiden2022 to commemorate Leiden’s year as European City of Science in 2022. The fully illustrated, 30-page booklet highlights the past, present and future of scientific innovation in Leiden and the Leiden Bio Science Park, the largest life sciences cluster in the Netherlands. I researched, wrote and edited the English version, and oversaw the production and distribution of the English and Dutch versions of the route. After completing my internship at Leiden Marketing, I was offered a position to continue working for Expat Centre Leiden. My key focusses were updating the website, managing the ECL's social media channels, training new interns, and organising the first in-person Meet & Mingle event in 18 months. I gave over 200 one-to-one lessons to school children aged between 5 and 16 years old. I built up an international client base with students in the UK, Spain, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia. Strong rapport with children and their parents was essential, as well as delivering quality lessons and noticeable results. Spending my time 50/50 between Expat Centre Leiden and Leiden Convention Bureau (which fall under the larger Leiden & Partners organisation), I created content for the websites and newsletters for both departments, managed social media channels and organised online events. Planning and hosting the monthly Meet & Mingle events were a particular highlight, as they provided an important opportunity for Expats to safely meet and socialise during an extremely isolating period. Working in an entirely Dutch team was also a great opportunity to improve my Dutch to a professional working standard. Show less

Unseen Platform presented a new project from contemporary art photography every week. As Digital Editorial Assistant my responsibilities were writing, editing and commissioning content for the Platform. For the weekly launch of new artistic projects, I contacted and interviewed artists about their work, and then composed texts to accompany the artist's images. I was responsible for scheduling each project and organising the work flow to ensure that the website was updated every week. My role also included using CMS to create each Project page, and update the website with additional content such as commissioned essays and videos of studio tours. Show less

    • VR Assistant - Virtual Diaromas at Eye Film Museum
      • Nov 2019 - Nov 2019

In conjunction with VR Days 2019, the Eye Film Museum hosted "Virtual Dioramas" - an exhibition of VR experiences by six artists. Throughout this programme I guided groups of visitors in the use of the VR headsets, and gave an introductory talk to each of the artworks. This experience allowed me to see my Master's thesis research in action, and better understand the capabilities and limits of VR in museums today. As part of my MA programme, I completed a 5 month internship at two of the NMVW sites: Tropenmuseum, Amsterdam and Museum Volkenkunde, Leiden. My primary task was to research a selection of Ottoman costume album paintings that have been in the collection since the nineteenth century. Alongside this I also contributed research and acquired material for an upcoming exhibition about the Islamic pilgrimage, Hajj. The Bill Douglas Museum is the second largest collection of film material and ephemera in the UK. I was given the responsibility of cataloguing a large and prestigious donation from the British Film Institute, which included early magic lantern slides and rare mutoscope reels. I researched the background of each item, checking for provenance and possible research purposes, before creating a record on the museum’s online database.
