      Project Title: The vegetation ecology and native status of Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) in Ireland. Supervisors: Prof. Fraser J.G. Outputs included the discovery of a relict, native pinewood in the Burren, western Ireland by means of pollen analysis, a classification and vegetation description of pinewoods in Ireland, a floristic comparison of reintroduced pinewoods in Ireland with native pinewoods in Scotland and SW Norway and GIS maps illustrating the dynamics of Scots pine in Ireland since the last glaciation.
