Here are my thoughts on Jennifer Berg from The Hatch Group. Jenn and I had known each other through mutual friends for the better part of a decade, but never had a chance to work together professionally. In the summer 2022, I suddenly found myself without a job and without even a resume. I merely had a skeleton LinkedIn profile. That’s when I received a message from Jenn asking if I’d like to partner in helping find employment. Being brand new to unemployment, I really didn’t know what to expect. Obviously, knowing Jenn a little, I was excited that someone from my past was reaching out to help me find employment, but I didn’t realize until our first meeting as to how determined she was to help me not just as an acquaintance, but as a professional trying to find a job in my field and finding one that complimented my years of experience in technology. The first meeting, she immediately dug deep into what I was looking for. What was my skill set, but also, what was my passion. What did I want to do with my career? Her questions were pinpoint and helped drive out what might work for us to find a position which would bring enlightenment, joy and a healthy wage. More than that, however, she was honest with me in that tough sort of way. In not so many words, she indicated I needed to really get my career experiences in order in both the resume form and within LinkedIn. Her being the expert in helping professions find jobs, I was all ears and put myself to work going through multiple iterations of both my resume and LinkedIn profile. Probably by the fourth back and forth, we were ready to look for opportunities and…. Nothing clicked….but that’s one of the best parts of this story and best parts of Jenn. She didn’t give up on me even when, I will quietly admit, that I might have. We didn’t speak for about three weeks, but little did I know she was still working my resume and profile around her contacts at high profile companies and equally important, her colleagues at The Hatch Group. She wasn’t just working for herself, she was working for me….even if I didn’t know it. She brought me into an in person round table where I sincerely felt like the most important person in the building. Her and her colleagues pumped me up, helped again reorganize my resume and I left feeling not just that I had a partner in seeking employment, but a professional ally that I can always count on to seek out new opportunities. Jennifer Berg is excellent at what she does. She gets the best out of what you want in your career by listening to you, making recommendations, working her extensive network and committing to find the best possible opportunities.
